Beyond the Pyramids

I spent two weeks touring the seemingly endless city. What can I say about it? There are hardly any clocks in the cityscape. The Nile is so incredibly wide – you can walk on its bridges in the wind as if you were by the sea. The pyramids are also unbelievably high. Snow lies on their peaks all year round. Or did I dream that? In any case, I was once arrested for taking a photo of a limousine stopping in the parliament district. Two security officers jumped out of the car and I was brought to the police station, detained for hours while flies circled around me. In the end, my black and white film was confiscated and I was given a warning. But otherwise? I struggled endlessly with the heat in Cairo, trying to cope with the damn diarrhea… That was the problem.
