Vorübergehend

„Temporary“ – “As if he wanted to show himself and others that he has mastered more than just street photography, Biermann compiles motifs in ”Vorübergehend“ that range from abstraction to non-objectivity. The images collected here are reminiscent of the informal painting of the post-war years as well as graffiti images, such as those masterfully photographed by Brassai in Paris. But even more, they take up impulses from the Americans Aaron Siskind and Harry Callahan, the two teachers at the New Bauhaus in Chicago, or from Minor White. This once again reveals the influence of American photography on his work. These pictures live primarily from the form, from pictorial inventions that open up unlimited associative spaces for the viewer.“ Enno Kaufhold, photo historian
